Montgomery County Public Schools Launch Emergency Meal Distribution Amid Snow Closure

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) has announced an emergency meal distribution initiative to assist students and families during the recent snow closure. Beginning January 8, 2025, meals will be available at designated sites across the county, ensuring that children continue to receive nutritious meals despite school closures. According to an MCPS statement, ‘We understand how vital it is for our students to access healthy meals, especially during this inclement weather.’ Families can pick up meals at various locations, with breakfast and lunch packages offered to accommodate dietary needs. This service will be available through January 10, 2025, at schools including Glen Echo Elementary and Silver Springs International Middle School. Additionally, the district encourages families to stay updated through the MCPS website for any further changes regarding meal distribution due to weather conditions.
