Community Honoring Martin Luther King Jr. with Prayer Breakfast and Events

In Aurora, attendees are invited to partake in the annual Martin Luther King Jr. prayer breakfast, set for January 16, 2025, at 7:30 a.m. at the Aurora University. The event will feature Mayor Richard Irvin and will focus on King’s enduring legacy. Meanwhile, in Canton, various commemorative activities are occurring throughout the week, culminating in a celebration at the Stark County Courthouse on January 15 at noon, featuring local leaders speaking on King’s impact. Canton area resident and organizer, Sarah Johnson, stated, ‘These events encourage our community to reflect on the importance of unity and service as we honor Dr. King’s memory.’ Additionally, in a special tribute, local schools will hold educational sessions to discuss civil rights and equality, underlining the educational aspects associated with MLK Day.
