TCU to Retire Desmond Bane’s Jersey in Honor of His Accomplishments

Texas Christian University (TCU) announced that it will retire the jersey of former basketball star Desmond Bane, recognizing his remarkable contributions to the program during his tenure. Bane, who now plays for the Memphis Grizzlies, will receive this honor during a special event on February 10, 2025, as TCU takes on the University of Nebraska. This historic occasion marks not only his achievements but also highlights the university’s commitment to celebrating its athletes. ‘It’s an incredible honor to know that I left a legacy at TCU, and I can’t wait to celebrate this with my family, friends, and the community,’ Bane said in a statement released by the university. His jersey number will be permanently displayed in TCU’s Daniel-Meyer Coliseum, symbolizing his impact on the program and serving as inspiration for future athletes. Bane played for TCU from 2016 to 2020, where he was a standout performer and left an indelible mark with his versatility and work ethic. Following his college career, he was drafted by the Grizzlies in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft, where he has continued to excel.
