Stanley Recalls 2.6 Million Travel Mugs Due to Burn Hazard

In a significant safety recall, Stanley has announced the retrieval of approximately 2.6 million Switchback and Trigger-Action travel mugs due to concerns regarding a potential burn hazard. The recall, issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), highlights that the mugs can allow hot liquids to leak or spray out, leading to potential burns. Stanley has reported at least 200 incidents of the mugs malfunctioning, with eight injuries documented from consumers due to hot liquid exposure. The affected models, manufactured in China, include the 12, 16, and 20-ounce stainless steel travel mugs sold in various colors. These were made available at major retailers like Amazon, Target, Walmart, and Dick’s Sporting Goods from August 2022 until November 2023, with prices ranging from $30 to $50. Consumers are advised to cease using these mugs and can contact Stanley for a refund or replacement. The company stated, ‘We are committed to safety and are taking this action to protect our customers.’ Retailers have promptly pulled the affected products from their shelves, addressing the dangerous malfunction swiftly. Anyone who purchased these mugs should verify if they belong to the recalled models and take immediate action to return or exchange to ensure safety.
