Significant Snowfall Accumulates Across Upstate New York This Winter

As winter progresses, Upstate New York has experienced substantial snowfall, with various regions recording impressive totals. According to reports, some of the highest snow accumulations include 79.7 inches in the Tug Hill Plateau region and 78 inches in Greece, Monroe County. Other notable figures include South Bristol’s 76.6 inches and a total of 71.7 inches in Camillus. The snow events began early in November, with lake-effect snow intensifying throughout the month and significantly impacting travel and outdoor activities. In Western New York, the snowfall in November alone amounted to approximately 50 inches, a factor contributing to travel difficulties during the Thanksgiving holiday. Experts warn that this winter could potentially bring even more snow, urging residents to prepare accordingly. Meteorologist Tom Niziol noted, ‘This is shaping up to be quite a winter, and the current weather patterns suggest that we will see more lake-effect snow in the coming weeks.’ Residents across the region are advised to stay tuned for weather updates and prepare for increased snowfall. Various communities, especially along the Great Lakes, should expect continued weather impacts from lake-effect snow as winter settles in.
