SEPTA Train Catches Fire in Ridley Park, Delaware County, Leading to Emergency Evacuation

A SEPTA train traveling on the Newark-Wilmington line experienced a fire incident in Ridley Park, Delaware County, prompting the evacuation of approximately 350 passengers. The train, headed for Wilmington, was near the Brookhaven Station when flames were spotted around 4:30 PM on Tuesday. Passengers reported smoke and flames pouring from the rear of the train, instigating immediate fear and concern among those aboard. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Witnesses recounted the moments of the fire, with one passenger stating, ‘There was smoke everywhere, and we were told to evacuate quickly.’ Fire crews worked to extinguish the flames and secure the area, ultimately allowing for service to resume later that evening.
