The father of 10-year-old Sara Sharif, who was found dead in Woking, has reportedly been attacked in prison after being convicted of her murder. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning at HMP High Down, where Urfan Sharif was subjected to a violent assault. According to a source close to the incident, Urfan was attacked with a makeshift weapon, described as having been crafted from a tuna tin. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution following the attack but is said to have sustained only minor injuries, including a cut to his nose. A spokesperson for the prison confirmed that this was part of a ‘keep apart’ strategy where individuals deemed at risk of such attacks are monitored closely. Urfan Sharif and his partner, Beinash Batool, had been charged with murdering their daughter and were remanded in custody after a brief court appearance on October 3. The Home Secretary has expressed concerns regarding the ongoing safety of both Sharif and Batool while in custody. A local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, commented, ‘It’s shocking. The whole neighborhood is still trying to process what happened to Sara.’ This case has drawn widespread media attention amid broader discussions on child safety and justice.
