Richard Childress Racing (RCR) has announced significant changes for the upcoming 2025 NASCAR season, including the addition of a third Cup Series team and new crew chief lineups for the NASCAR Xfinity Series. The expansion aims to enhance the team’s competitiveness in both series. The organization welcomes former Cup Series crew chief, Randall Burnett, as the new crew chief for the NASCAR Xfinity Series No. 21 car. Burnett is set to work with driver Austin Hill, who finished 10th in the Xfinity standings in 2024. In addition, veteran crew chiefs, Justin Alexander and Matt Swiderski, will lead vehicles in the Xfinity Series, with Alexander overseeing the No. 2 car and Swiderski taking the reins of the No. 3 car. RCR also announced the promotion of several key personnel in their structure, aiming to bolster overall performance as they gear up for 2025. “This is an exciting time for RCR as we continue to build upon our achievements while striving for excellence on the track,” commented Richard Childress, President and CEO of Richard Childress Racing. The expansion to a third Cup Series team indicates RCR’s commitment to growth and competitiveness in the fast-evolving NASCAR landscape. The new team will field the No. 8 car, driven by Kyle Busch, alongside veteran drivers Austin Dillon and Tyler Reddick in the existing teams. “Growing our organization is essential, and we believe this expansion will position us for success in the future,” Childress added, emphasizing the strategic nature of the decisions made. As preparations ramp up for the 2025 season, fans and stakeholders look forward to seeing how RCR navigates these changes and their potential impact on the track.
