An Orlando woman has been arrested on DUI charges following a tragic crash that resulted in the death of a 24-year-old man. The incident occurred on December 16, 2024, on Orange Blossom Trail near West Oak Ridge Road. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the woman, identified as 36-year-old Jazmine Rivera, was driving her SUV intoxicated when she collided with a vehicle driven by the victim, Mario Marcano. The impact caused Marcano’s vehicle to overturn, leading to his death at the scene. Rivera was subsequently taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital for treatment, where she reportedly registered a blood alcohol content of 0.18%, significantly above the legal limit of 0.08%. In a statement, FHP emphasized the dangers of drunk driving, with the official quoting, ‘Driving under the influence poses a significant risk to everyone on the road.’ Following her release from the hospital, Rivera was arrested and charged with DUI manslaughter and other related offenses. This incident has once again highlighted the ongoing issue of impaired driving in Florida, leading to numerous campaigns aimed at increasing awareness about the dangers of driving intoxicated.
