Mesa Man Arrested for Spraying Pesticide on Food at Walmart

A 27-year-old man was arrested in Mesa, Arizona, after he was caught on surveillance video spraying a pesticide on food items inside a Walmart store. According to police reports, the incident took place on December 20, 2024, and involved the suspect using an aerosol canister of pesticide in the store’s produce and poultry sections. The store’s employees alerted law enforcement after noticing the suspicious behavior. “The video shows the man deliberately spraying the pesticide on items such as chicken and various fruits and vegetables,” said Sergeant James Wren of the Mesa Police Department. After the incident, the affected food items were removed from the shelves, and the store closed temporarily for safety evaluations. Officers found the suspect, later identified as John Doe, soon after he left the store. Doe was charged with several offenses, including food tampering and disorderly conduct. He is currently being held at the Maricopa County Jail with a bond set at $25,000. Authorities are urging the public to report any similar behavior in grocery stores. This incident has raised concerns about food safety and the risks posed by irresponsible actions in public spaces.
