Marvel Rivals has officially launched, offering players access to a range of 33 heroes, fully unlocked and free-to-play during its initial season titled ‘Doom’s Rise’. This multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game allows players to engage in strategic 1v1 matchups using various characters from the Marvel universe, including fan favorites such as Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Captain Marvel. According to the game’s developers, the goal is to provide players with a competitive yet accessible gaming experience. ‘With the launch of Season 0, we aimed to bring Marvel’s space of heroes and villains to life in a way that every player can connect with,’ said lead designer Steve Brown. In addition, a tier list has been released detailing the strengths and capabilities of characters categorized into Duelists, Vanguards, and Strategists. The site confirmed that these tiers reflect the complexity and playstyle each character offers. Players are encouraged to experiment with different strategies to find the best matches for their preferred heroes. This dual approach of character accessibility and competitive gameplay marks a new chapter for Marvel games, as they continue to leverage their vast array of characters and storylines to engage a broader audience.
