Light Snow Forecasted for the Weekend in Massachusetts and Rhode Island

Residents in Massachusetts and Rhode Island can expect a light dusting of snow to start off the weekend. According to meteorologists, snowfall is expected to begin Friday evening into Saturday morning, potentially leaving a coating of one to three inches in some areas. The heaviest snow is anticipated throughout the western parts of Massachusetts. Erica Dumas, a meteorologist at NBC Boston, stated, ‘The snow will accumulate mainly on grassy surfaces, but roadways may also see some slick spots, especially in the morning hours.’ The National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisories for several counties, warning of possible slippery travel conditions. The expected temperatures will be hovering around 30 degrees Fahrenheit, leading to chilly conditions alongside the light snowfall. As the weekend progresses, temperatures are projected to rise to the mid-40s, melting much of the snow quickly. The weather systems moving through are part of a larger pattern shifting across the Northeast, indicating an active winter season ahead. Residents are advised to plan accordingly and consider allowing extra time for travel during the snowy periods.
