Krewe de Rivière Parade Brings Festivities to Twin Cities

The highly anticipated Krewe de Rivière parade rolled through the Twin Cities of West Monroe and Monroe, Louisiana, delighting onlookers on Saturday, February 7, 2025. This vibrant Mardi Gras celebration featured numerous floats, local marching bands, and lively dance troupes, embodying the spirit of the carnival season. Celebrants adorned in colorful costumes were seen throwing beads and trinkets to enthusiastic crowds lining the streets. The parade commenced at 1 PM, starting from the West Monroe Convention Center, and wound its way through downtown, making its way to the Riverwalk. This year’s theme, ‘A Celebration of the River,’ highlighted the rich cultural heritage of the region and the importance of the Ouachita River that runs through the area. City officials, including Mayor Staci Albritton Mitchell, remarked, ‘We are excited to host this event again and bring our community together for a day of joy and celebration.’ In preparation for the parade, city officials had previously announced street closures in West Monroe to ensure safety for all participants and spectators, with detours set to guide traffic around the festivities. The event is organized annually by the Krewe de Rivière, a local organization dedicated to promoting the Mardi Gras tradition in the Twin Cities.
