Korean Corporate Leaders Address Sustainable Practices in Annual Forum

On January 11, 2025, prominent leaders from South Korea’s corporate sector convened at the annual Forum on Sustainable Practices, aiming to tackle key environmental challenges and foster sustainable business strategies. Lee Kun-hee, CEO of Samsung Electronics, emphasized, “As industry leaders, we must take responsibility and lead in innovative sustainable practices. Our target is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, which is no longer an option but an imperative.”

Similarly, Kim Bo-kyung, Chairperson of Hyundai Motors, presented the company’s ambitious EV production plan, stating, “We will invest 70 trillion won (approximately 60 billion USD) over the next decade to ensure our electric vehicles not only lead the market but also support the green transition.”

The forum also hosted various panels featuring sustainability experts, discussing practical steps businesses can take. One notable panel included Dr. Jane Goodall, who highlighted, “Corporations have immense power to drive change. Embracing sustainability not only protects our planet, but it can also lead to greater profitability in the long term.”
