India Women Secure Dominant Victory Against Ireland Women in 1st ODI

In a commanding performance, the India Women’s cricket team decisively defeated the Ireland Women’s team by 9 wickets in the first ODI of the series held at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. After being asked to bat first, Ireland Women struggled significantly, collapsing for just 102 runs in 36.2 overs. Indian bowler Puja Vastrakar was a standout performer, claiming three crucial wickets for 20 runs, as she helped dismantle the Irish batting lineup. ‘We tried to bat deep, but the Indian bowlers made it difficult for us’, admitted Ireland captain Laura Delany post-match. Following the below-par total, India Women chased down the target comfortably, with Harleen Deol scoring an unbeaten 62 runs, supported by the explosive performance of Smriti Mandhana, who contributed 31 runs. The match served as an excellent start to the series for the Indian contingent as they look to build momentum for the subsequent games.
