The 2001 Rookie of the Year and 10-time All-Star, Ichiro finished his career with a staggering 3,089 hits, making a significant impact on Major League Baseball during his time with the Seattle Mariners and the New York Yankees. “I am truly honored to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. This is a dream come true, and I owe so much to my teammates, coaches, and fans who supported me throughout my career,” Ichiro stated during the induction announcement. CC Sabathia, a dominant left-handed pitcher and six-time All-Star, also earned his place in the Hall with 85% of the votes, recognized for his impressive career with the Cleveland Indians, Milwaukee Brewers, and New York Yankees, where he amassed 251 wins and over 3,000 strikeouts. “To be recognized among such esteemed players is humbling. I am grateful for the experiences and lessons the game has taught me,” Sabathia remarked. Billy Wagner, one of the greatest closers in the history of the sport, was inducted after receiving 71% of the votes, notable for his exceptional ability to shut down opposing hitters with a fastball that reached speeds over 100 mph. Wagner concluded his career with 422 saves and was a multi-time All-Star during his tenure with teams like the Houston Astros and New York Mets. This year’s inductees will be officially honored at the Baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremony set for July 2025 in Cooperstown, New York. The BBWAA also announced that the remaining candidates and their voting percentages have been made public for further transparency.
