Hoover, Alabama Offers New Drop-off Location for Live Christmas Trees

The City of Hoover, Alabama, has announced a partnership with Alabama Power to repurpose live Christmas trees. Starting on December 26, 2024, Hoover residents can drop off their trees at the designated location near the Hoover Recreation Center at 6000 Montrose Road. The drop-off site will be open for two weeks until January 9, 2025. Residents are encouraged to bring their trees, stripped of all decorations, including tinsel and lights. The trees collected will be taken to Alabama Power’s facility for recycling and will be converted into mulch, which will be made available to the community. “This initiative is a great way to help our environment while also turning a holiday tradition into a resource for our city,” stated Hoover Council member Danny D. H. Ainsworth. Additionally, Alabama Power is providing tips for residents on how to save money on their energy bills during the winter months, emphasizing the importance of reducing energy usage, especially with the colder weather approaching. They recommend maintaining heating systems, sealing drafts, and utilizing energy-efficient practices to ensure comfort and savings. This initiative not only focuses on sustainability but also promotes community involvement during the holiday season.
