The annual Children’s Gasparilla Parade is set to take place on Saturday, marking a cherished tradition in Tampa’s calendar. The event is scheduled to kick off at 3:00 PM on January 21, 2025, featuring various floats, pirate-themed activities, and entertainment designed for families and children. The parade route begins at Bay to Bay Boulevard and Bayshore Boulevard, culminating at the downtown Tampa area. Officials expect a large turnout, with as many as 100,000 attendees anticipated.
City officials have released important safety and traffic information to help residents navigate the day. The parade will result in road closures around the event area, particularly along Bayshore Boulevard. The following roads will be closed from 1:00 PM until the parade ends, approximately 6:00 PM: Bayshore Boulevard, Bay to Bay Boulevard, and several cross streets intersecting these areas. Although the parade is free to attend, attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure viewing spots and enjoy the pre-parade festivities.
“Hillsborough County is proud to host this family-friendly event that highlights our community spirit,” said Tampa Mayor Jane Castor. “We invite all families to come out, dress in their pirate best, and join us for a day of fun.” In addition to the parade, there will be live music, local food vendors, and a variety of children’s activities available throughout the weekend. Specific parking locations will be designated, and the city advises spectators to use public transport or rideshare services to minimize congestion.
More than 100 community organizations and schools are expected to participate in the parade, reflecting the importance of the event in promoting community involvement and unity. “The Gasparilla Children’s Parade is a magical time for kids and their families,” said event organizer Lisa Jenkins. “We have been working hard to make this year’s parade even more spectacular.” The vibrant atmosphere, overflowing with pirate spirit, will surely delight attendees of all ages, as families come out to enjoy a day filled with color, creativity, and community bonding.
