Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Celebrates Founders Day with a Series of Events Highlighting Hope and Legacy

In honor of the founding of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the Augusta Alumnae Chapter hosted a series of impactful events celebrating the sorority’s legacy and contributions to the community. Founded in 1913 at Howard University, Delta Sigma Theta is a prominent sorority dedicated to public service and social activism. The events featured community service, educational programs, and the highlighting of members who have made significant contributions, particularly in times of crisis. The chapter’s President, Dr. A. Tamu Lewis stated, “We are proud to continue our legacy of sisterhood, scholarship, and service as we engage with our community in meaningful ways.” Activities included workshops on financial literacy, health awareness programs, and a special focus on the sorority’s pillars of public service and social justice. As part of the celebrations, the sorority recognized notable alumnae who have excelled in various fields, including business, education, and healthcare. This year’s events aimed not only to commemorate the sorority’s history but also to encourage young women to pursue leadership roles and community involvement. Delta Sigma Theta has a rich history of activism, and current members are committed to maintaining this legacy. The Augusta Alumnae Chapter encourages the community to join them in their ongoing mission of service and empowerment, emphasizing the importance of philanthropy and volunteer work in fostering strong communities.
