Brentwood Police Use Drone Technology to Capture Suspected Golf Cart Thieves

In a remarkable application of technology, Brentwood police successfully utilized a drone to track down two alleged golf cart thieves on January 5, 2025. The incident unfolded when officers responded to a report of stolen golf carts near the Brentwood Golf Club. After being notified of the theft of the golf carts, police quickly deployed a drone to survey the area. The drone’s aerial capabilities enabled officers to spot the suspects, identified as a 30-year-old Brentwood resident and a 20-year-old from Oakley, evading police on the stolen equipment. Brentwood Police Lieutenant J.R. Waller highlighted the effectiveness of the drone, stating, ‘The drone provided us with a visual advantage that traditional ground units couldn’t achieve.’ The drone tracked the thieves as they navigated through nearby neighborhoods, and with the data collected, officers were able to intercept the suspects, leading to their immediate arrest. Evidence retrieved from the scene confirmed the ownership of the golf carts, securing the return of the stolen items to Brentwood Golf Club.
