Herb Hand Named New Offensive Line Coach at UCF

In a significant coaching shift within college football, Herb Hand has been appointed as the new offensive line coach for the University of Central Florida (UCF) Knights. The decision comes as UCF’s head coach Gus Malzahn continues to reshape his coaching staff ahead of the 2024 season. Hand, who previously served on staff under Gus Malzahn at Auburn and has an extensive background in developing competitive offensive lines, expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Knights, stating, ‘I am thrilled to be here at UCF. This is a fantastic university with a rich football tradition. I look forward to getting to work with the offensive line and helping these young men realize their full potential.’ Hand has been credited with helping numerous teams develop robust offensive strategies and has a proven track record in collegiate athletics. His hiring is a part of a broader strategy by UCF to enhance their competitive edge in the American Athletic Conference (AAC). Malzahn welcomed Hand’s experience, citing, ‘His vision for the offensive line aligns perfectly with our goals for the upcoming season.’ Hand’s previous experience includes notable tenures at universities such as Florida State, where he is expected to bring a wealth of knowledge and skill to the Knights. He will take over a line that aims to improve on last season’s performance and push for a top position in their conference.
