Honda Recalls Nearly 206,000 Vehicles Due to Possible Fuel Leaks

Honda has announced a major recall affecting nearly 206,000 vehicles in the United States due to a potential fuel leak that could pose a fire risk. The recall specifically targets models of the 2020-2023 Passport and Pilot SUVs, but also includes some 2021-2023 Ridgeline pickups. According to Honda, the issue is linked to a faulty fuel pump that may develop cracks over time, leading to fuel spillage. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that the affected vehicles are equipped with direct injection engines that can increase engine workload and subsequently damage the fuel pumps. Affected owners are being warned to be vigilant for warning lights and fuel smells while driving. In a statement, Honda said, “We deeply regret this inconvenience for our customers and are committed to resolving the issue as quickly as possible.” The automaker is set to contact affected owners via mail, instructing them to schedule service appointments for free repairs, which will begin on January 12, 2024. Owners may also track their vehicle’s recall status on the NHTSA website. This recall follows another one issued earlier this year for nearly 300,000 vehicles for similar issues concerning the onboard fuel pump system.
