Whale collapsed on the ice late in the third period, prompting immediate medical attention. Emergency personnel rushed him to a local hospital where he underwent tests and evaluations. Fortunately, all tests returned normal results, and he has since been released from the hospital.
UNH Head Coach Mike Souza expressed relief, stating, “We’re thankful that he’s doing okay and he’s at home, but it’s definitely a scary situation. Jared’s a big part of our team, and we’re all relieved to have him back home.”
Whale, who hails from Merrimack, NH, had exhibited commendable performance prior to the incident, having been pivotal in UNH’s previous victories this season. Coach Souza underscored Whale’s importance by adding, “He’s a fighter and has shown great resilience throughout the season. We’re proud of him and can’t wait to see him back on the ice when he’s ready.”
