Swastika Flags Displayed Over I-75 Overpass Near Evendale Sparks Outrage

Residents of Evendale, a suburb near Cincinnati, were confronted with a disturbing scene on Sunday when demonstrators displayed swastika-emblazoned flags over the I-75 overpass. Photos shared on social media indicated that four individuals, some dressed in black, held the flags as cars passed below. Local residents quickly took to expressing their outrage as demonstrators reportedly shouted slogans to the vehicles traveling underneath. In direct response to the demonstration, a group of about 50 local residents gathered at the base of the overpass to voice their opposition, holding signs with messages such as ‘hates not welcome here’ and ‘stop hate.’ Evendale resident Gladys Kessler stated, ‘We don’t want them here. We want love – we want community.’ The Evendale Police Department confirmed to WLWT that the demonstration had not received prior authorization and that an investigation is underway. Officers remained on the scene to ensure safety, with plans to review the situation further. The Cincinnati Human Relations Commission, which promotes respect for the community, released a statement condemning the event, asserting that ‘The signing of hate does not reflect the values of our city.’ This incident highlights ongoing issues with anti-Semitism and hate symbols, which have been increasingly reported across various communities in recent years.
