The San Francisco Bay Ferry is set to reintroduce its drink and snack service, including beer and wine, catering to morning commuters starting November 6, 2023. This initiative aims to create a more enjoyable commuting experience by allowing passengers to relax with beverages during their journey. The service will be available on select routes, specifically the Alameda and Oakland to San Francisco routes. The ferry, which previously operated this service before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, is looking to entice riders back to public transport as ridership levels approach pre-pandemic figures. According to ferry operators, the revival of this service comes at a crucial time when ridership is close to 75% of its pre-pandemic levels and is projected to reach similar heights by 2024. ‘We want to enhance the experience for our riders and make their commute more pleasant,’ said a spokesperson for the ferry service. Alongside this, the ferry will also continue to offer coffee, tea, and a variety of snacks, matching an increasing passenger demand for amenities that promote relaxation and enjoyment during the commute.
