Disney to Merge Hulu + Live TV with FuboTV

Disney has announced a strategic partnership with FuboTV to combine its Hulu + Live TV service with FuboTV, enhancing its position in the competitive streaming market. The deal, unveiled in early January 2025, aims to capture more subscribers by offering a more comprehensive viewing experience. Disney CEO Bob Chapek commented, “This merger will allow us to provide unparalleled content delivery and strengthen our foothold in the rapidly evolving streaming landscape.” The integration is set to take place by mid-2025, allowing existing Hulu + Live TV subscribers the option to transition to FuboTV’s sports-centric platform. The move comes amidst increased competition in the streaming sector, particularly from services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, which have also made strides in live sports broadcasting. This merger is expected to include a wider array of channels and on-demand content, targeting both entertainment and sports enthusiasts. Disney’s commitment to innovation and content expansion remains critical as they navigate the changing dynamics of consumer entertainment preferences.
