As Southern California gears up for the celebration of New Year’s Eve, Grand Park in downtown Los Angeles is set to be the host for an electrifying Countdown to 2025 event. Named after the late Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina, the park is preparing to welcome thousands of revelers. The event will kick off at 8 PM PST on December 31, 2024, and will feature live performances including renowned R&B artist Usher. Admission is free for all ages, with food trucks and various activities planned throughout the night. Attendees can expect a vibrant atmosphere as a DJ spins tracks leading up to the midnight countdown. Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell mentioned in a statement, “Gloria Molina Park is not only a wonderful setting for our New Year’s Eve celebration but it also honors the legacy of a remarkable leader committed to our community.” Meanwhile, the preparations continue across Southern California with other events planned including fireworks displays and concerts. Interestingly, as part of a global tradition, the first country to welcome the New Year is Kiribati, while the last is Baker Island in the United States.
